Context
The Republic of the Union of Myanmar emerged from its isolationism in 2011. Since then, the country has experienced remarkable economic development.
In order to pursue its development trajectory, the government deemed it appropriate to improve its institutional and human capacities. Thus, a program to improve public finance management has been implemented.
Objectives
The objective of this project was to strengthen institutional and human resource capacity to analyze, forecast and report on key macroeconomic developments.
DSI services provided
- Institutional review and strengthening;
- Training and capacity building on macroeconmic data management;
- Develop a template and help deliver a regular macroeconomic report
Results
- Organizational reforms of the Ministry
- Improved frequency and quality of economic reports
- Ministry executives trained in statistics, macroeconomics and IT
- Manual of GDP calculation
- Preparation and production of several reports (macroeconomic database, skills, macroeconomic monitoring, etc.).
